Image 64 miscellaneous of our All County Senior Reserve team circa 1993.
The photo reminded me of an All County Senior Reserve Championship semi-final up at Creggan. For the Aggies reserve team to reach a semi-final was not a frequent occurrence.  Prior to the match I recall there was a noticeable degree to tension and expectation in the dressing room and the banter was not as free flowing as it usually was.  Jimmy Duffy was our manager and as he entered the changing room everyone fell silent (even Boylers).  To ensure there was sufficient time to discuss tactics, Jimmy quickly called out the team.  I had been selected midfield, not my usual position out of harms way, and Big Kevo corner forward.  The team talk began.
“Don’t be firing high balls into to Kevo, he’ll not be able to jump for them…..”
Pity, high balls to nobody in particular were my forte but yeah, good point I though and waited for the game plan to unfold.
“…. and don’t be firing low balls into Kevo, he’ll not be able to pick them up”

With than the team talk ended.  I couldn’t help thinking if I could give pin point passes into the chests of the forwards I wouldn’t be in the reserve team.  The person between G Shannon & B O’Boyle I think is still coming to terms with the game plan.

Needless to say, Kevo caught high balls, low balls and scored plenty but never received any in accordance with the plan in another glorious defeat.  Unfortunately, Jimmy knew that with the array of talent at his disposal that it would take more that 110% and pin point passes into the chest to Kevo to win.

A fairly impartial boxing day match report but enough clues throughout as to the authors’ identity to ensure I wasn’t entirely surprised when I saw the signature at the end.  In my defence, my shot/score ratio was actually 3/1 and unfortunately Derby & Mohan wasted my great link play and distribution.  Enjoyed the game and the good-natured abuse.

Great Web-site.  Happy New Year!

To Kevin McVeagh

Hi Kevin, if you have any such photos from the Easter trips, or any other such events, send them into the site - I am sure Raymond can get them displayed.

Good to hear from you.

Under the miscelleanous gallery section there are some photographs which I can't identify, anyone who can add detail to these group photographs for example the event the year and the names of the people should send these to me.  Raymond

I've been called many things but Mary is a first ha ha

Happy new year to you all, hope this year will be better than last year meaning I'll play more than 3 games all season and not play the sick card every week.....

Great match report brendan... but for you and murph the oldies would have won the match handy. A bit of shooting practice required for next year. Maybe we'll get that at South Antrim this year.
Best wishes to all the aggies for 2010... have a good one

Good to see the photos from the 2004 dinner on the site. There should be a decent amount of shots from other such occassions too. It would be nice to get a spread of archive shots on the site.
Hi Brendan I have other photographs to add that Peter McGinnity has supplied but there are clearly others out there, I will take this opportunity to appeal to everyone who has photographs to forward them to me.
