Still stunned at the terrible news about our dear friend Michael McLean.  I've known 'big Mick' since he was Primary 5 at the Holy Child and I can safely say that over all of those years he was a pleasure to know and be around.
I remember laughing with Mick and telling him that his point at Casement last summer would live long in the memories of all who watched it sail over the black spot...little did I know how cruelly true that would prove to be.
My deepest sympathies are with the Mc Lean family on their devasting loss.
A true gent I was proud to have known.

Still struggling to come to terms with the news of Big Mick,s passing  , it got me thinking of the last time i saw him , we had just played our last Southy match and in the changing room at Gort na Mona a couple of weeks ago ,  we were bidding each other our farewells after another South Antrim campaign , slagging Mick about  where him and Slim would end up in South America , practicing a speedy gonzalez type Mexican accent , the Big Man laughed as usual and gave back as good as he got , how precious those farewells are now . Its comforting to know we parted company with smiles on our faces and laughter in the changing room . We have all seen the billboards on the road advertising the All Ireland Championships ,  "Walking with Gaints . " We knew a Gaint , we loved , laughed , played , worked , coached with or merely bid the time of day to a Gaint . Big Mick Mc Lean , a Gaint in physical stature and a Gaint personality . As nice a fella as you could ever wish to meet , RIP Micko , til we meet again .

Big Mick, my 'big brother' during our time working in Scotland. From breakfast to lunch to dinner, (then to a few beers in the hotel bar before bed) it was always a pleasure being around you! A true gentleman and friend, loved by everyone who ever met you, with an infectious sense of humour to go with your limitless kindness and care for others, you were the best. Heaven is a much better place now with you around.

Deepest sympathies to your family, who you loved so much and talked so much about during our long days in Scotland.

You'll never be forgotten by me, or anyone who ever met you, Rest In Peace Big Man,

Deepest sympathies to the McLean family, especially our team mate Conor, on the tragic passing of Big Mick.

One of lifes good guys who always had a big smile on his face. His positive attitude was infectious and nothing was ever too much trouble for him.

He achieved alot in his short life and his friends and family can be proud of that.

A fantastic team mate who will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him

RIP Big Man
